हिंदी भारत में सबसे अधिक बोली, समझी , पढ़ी एवं लिखी जाने वाली भारतीय भाषा है। हिंदी भाषा का उदगम संस्कृत भाषा है। हिंदी भाषा देवनागरी लिपि में लिखी जाती है जो कि बाए से दाए लिखी जाती है । अंग्रेजी भाषा की भांति ही हिंदी भाषा में भी स्वर (Vowels) और व्यंजन (Consonants) होते हैं।
Hindi is the most spoke, understood, written and spoken Indian language. It's origin is in Sanskrit. It uses the Devnagari Script which is written left to right and from top to bottom. Just like in English, Hindi also have Vowels and Consonants.

स्वरों एवं व्यंजनों के मिलाप से हिंदी भाषा का शब्द बनता है। परन्तु यहाँ अंग्रेजी और हिंदी भाषा में एक भिन्नता है। अंग्रेजी भाषा के स्वर (Vowels) अलग अलग शब्दों में अलग अलग ध्वनि उत्पन्न कर सकते हैं। उदहारण के लिए Go गो होता है और Do डू होता है , जबकि दोनों में अंग्रेजी के स्वर O (ओ) का प्रयोग किया गया है। परन्तु हिंदी में ऐसा नहीं है। एक स्वर एक ही प्रकार की ध्वनि उत्पन्न करता है। इसीलिए हिंदी जैसी लिखी जाती है वैसी ही पढ़ी जाती है। और यही कारण है की जब एक भारतीय व्यक्ति अंग्रेजी बोलता है तो वह वैसा ही बोलता है जैसा लिखा होता है। जबकि अंग्रेजी भाषा में लिखने और बोलने में अंतर हो सकता है। इसीलिए भारतीयों के अंग्रेजी बोलने के तरीके को अंग्रेज लोग मोटी अंग्रेजी (Thick Ascent) कहते हैं।
Vowels and Consonants together form words in Hindi. But here is a difference between Hindi and English. In English a Vowel can produce different sounds in different words e.g. English vowel O produces different sound in GO and DO. But in Hindi, it is not like this. Hindi is spoken as written and vice versa and that is why when an Indian speaks English, westerners call it a Thick Ascent because he tries to read as written.

नीचे प्रस्तुत है हिंदी के स्वर (Vowels) और व्यंजनों (Consonants) की सूची। जिन लोगों को हिंदी पढ़ने में दिक्कत है उनके लिए मैंने साथ में अंग्रेजी लिपि में भी लिखा है।

हिंदी के शब्दों में स्वर (Vowels) अपने मूल रूप में भी प्रयोग होते हैं एवं व्यंजनों के साथ मात्राओं के रूप में भी प्रयोग होते हैं। दोनों ही रूप में वे समान ध्वनि उत्पन्न करते है। नीचे सूची में स्वर एवं उनके सामानांतर मात्राएँ दी हुई हैं।
In Hindi language Vowels are used in their original form as well as in the form of 'Matra' along with consonants. Both ways they produce the same sound. Given below are the Hindi Vowels and their equivalent 'Matra'.
